Unoccupied property insurance in probate - A few questions and answers:

The existing home insurance provider has confirmed they are happy to continue cover on standard terms. Therefore do we still need an unoccupied property insurance policy?

Under a home insurance policy standard terms and conditions, if the property becomes unoccupied, automatic exclusions will be applied including Theft, Malicious Damage, Burst Pipes, Escape of Water. You will need an unoccupied property insurance policy to restore these perils.

 

I am not a surveyor - How do I know that the sums insured are adequate for the unoccupied property?
